Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Quantity Surveyor to join our team. The Quantity Surveyor will play a crucial role in estimating project costs, managing budgets, and ensuring efficient resource allocation throughout the construction process. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in construction, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with various stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

Cost Estimation:

Prepare accurate and detailed cost estimates for construction projects, including materials, labor, equipment, and overhead expenses.

Collaborate with project managers, architects, and engineers to gather necessary information for estimating purposes.

Analyze project plans and specifications to identify potential cost-saving opportunities or risks.

Budget Management:

Develop and manage project budgets, tracking expenses and ensuring adherence to allocated funds.

Monitor and control project costs throughout all phases, making adjustments as needed and providing timely reports to project stakeholders.

Quantity Takeoff:

Perform detailed quantity takeoffs from architectural and engineering drawings to determine the required quantities of materials for projects.

Maintain accurate records of quantities for cost estimating and procurement purposes.

Tendering and Procurement:

Prepare and review tender documents, including bills of quantities and specifications, to solicit accurate bids from contractors and subcontractors.

Evaluate received bids and provide recommendations based on cost, quality, and schedule considerations.

Contract Management:

Assist in the negotiation and preparation of contracts, ensuring that terms and conditions are favorable and aligned with project objectives.

Monitor contract compliance and manage any variations or change orders that may arise during construction.

Cost Control:

Implement cost control measures to minimize project overruns and identify potential cost-saving opportunities.

Regularly review project costs, identifying discrepancies and taking corrective actions as needed.

Risk Assessment:

Identify potential risks that could impact project costs or timelines and develop mitigation strategies.

Provide input to project teams to help manage and mitigate risks effectively.

Stakeholder Communication:

Collaborate with project managers, engineers, architects, and other stakeholders to ensure effective communication regarding cost-related matters.

Provide clear and concise reports and updates on project costs and budget status.

Qualifications:

 

·         Engineering degree/diploma in Civil Engineering ,Degree in quality Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.

·         5-10 years of experience as a Quantity Surveyor in oil and gas/fabrication projects.

·         Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

·         Proficiency in cost estimating software and tools.

·         Knowledge of construction methods, materials, and building regulations.

·         Excellent communication and negotiation skills.

·         Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams.

·         Membership or affiliation with relevant professional organizations is a plus.
