Description:
The main role of a Financial Controller is to ensure the company's financial health by overseeing all accounting, financial planning and analysis activities. He is responsible for utilizing accounting software and tools to enhance processes and strengthen the accounting and reporting capabilities.
Roles and Responsibilities
A Financial Controller's typical duties include:
· Tracking, reporting, and analyzing budget variances
- Reviewing the company's financial statements to ensure they are accurate
- Preparing month-end reports for management, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements
- Recommending changes in policies or procedures that will improve financial performance
- Forecasting future financial performance. Preparing and analyzing budgets.
- Providing accurate financial reports to management.
- Ensuring compliance with government regulations. Ensuring timely filing of VAT and other Tax related returns.
- Ensuring that accounts are prepared as per set financial reporting standards & guidelines and Statutory audit is completed within 2 months of the year end.
- ERP implementation and work flow automation.
The Financial Controller has many responsibilities, such as:
· Develop and implement financial policies and procedures.
· Implementing adequate internal controls is a primary responsibility.
· Ensuring accuracy of financial statements.
- Overseeing all financial planning and analysis
- Forecasting future performance
- Recommending changes to improve financial performance
- Utilizing updated technologies for their job
The Financial Controller is also responsible for his own upskilling, as well as recommending upskilling for others in the finance department, particularly junior staff.
Financial Controller’s Day to day activity
The Financial Controller would collaborate with managers to develop budgets for the business, usually on a monthly or quarterly basis. They need to monitor actual performance versus budget and report variances to management.
The Financial Controller would work closely with managers across all departments of the organization, as well as external parties such as vendors and customers.
Developing financial models and cash flow projections is another part of this process. A Financial Controller may analyze results from these models to make recommendations for future activities such as marketing campaigns, and new product launches.
As part of their job, Financial Controllers also prepares the monthly reports for the management team, as well as quarterly and year-end financial statements & analyze financial results each month or quarter (depending on company accounting policy) to.
They may also be involved with mergers and acquisitions, which requires an understanding of complex accounting issues such as purchase price allocations.
Qualification and Experience Required

CA/Master's
degree in accounting.
Minimum of 15 years of exp. in finance including at least 4 years in a
Financial Controller role.
· Previous working exp. in trading, manufacturing or financial services offices is a must.
· Strong forecasting & analytical capabilities.
· Ability to adapt and thrive in rapidly changing environment and manage multiple priorities on a deadline basis.
Fluency in English is a must. Knowledge of Arabic language would be an added advan
