Job Description The Chiller Plant Technician, under general supervision, applies knowledge and skill at the journey level to operate, inspect, maintain and repair chilled water plant systems and associated equipment.
Responsibilities - Conducts periodic preventive maintenance of all mechanical equipment.
- Diagnose faults and repair malfunctions or replace parts as required utilizing knowledge of refrigeration principles and electrical schematics to identify issues and implement solutions.
- Conduct electrical insulation test, vibration test, and alignment of motor and pump shaft.
- Replace pump shaft seal of condenser pump and filtration pump.
- Performs overhauling of gearbox and change oil of cooling tower and replaced bearing including swabbing of chiller condenser tubes.
- Conduct fan blade alignment of cooling tower.
- Testing and checking of mono life and overhead crane.
- Able to use computer control system for plant operation and building interface control system.
- Assist in preparing documents for preventive maintenance schedule.
- Coordinates project with the team and third-party contractors.
- Assist in updating of spare parts inventory, ordering and safe keeping.
- Maintains proper arrangement of the tools in the workshop.
- Performs other pertinent tasks, if needed.
Minimum Requirements - Has in-depth knowledge in the operation and maintenance of chiller plant in a hotel or industrial setting.
- Possess strong background in Airconditioning and Refrigeration, HVAC, Mechanical maintenance fields.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, reading schematics and testing components to identify electrical problems in chillers.
- Knowledge of relevant hand tools to sophisticated diagnostic equipment is a plus.
- Requires good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Well-rounded individual and a positive attitude is a must.
- Team player and able to live and work with other people harmoniously.
Qualifications - A bachelor’s degree or minimum of two-year technical diploma with accredited apprenticeship equivalent.
- Preferably require holding equivalent HVAC and Chiller experience certificates and licenses.
