Description:

To ensure effective planning, scheduling, and monitoring of civil construction projects to meet deadlines, quality standards, and cost objectives. The Planning Engineer will play a critical role in coordinating activities, analyzing project progress, and ensuring timely completion of all construction milestones.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, monitor, and update detailed project schedules using software like Primavera (P6) and/or MS Project.

  • Prepare and update work programs, cash flow projections, manpower histograms, and other planning deliverables.

  • Coordinate with project managers, site engineers, and subcontractors to gather and verify progress data.

  • Conduct delay analysis and propose mitigation plans to recover slippages.

  • Monitor project timelines, budgets, resources, and risks and recommend corrective actions.

  • Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports, S-curves, and look-ahead schedules.

  • Participate in planning meetings and provide inputs on resource optimization and productivity improvement.

  • Review project specifications and drawings to ensure compliance with planning requirements.

  • Support cost control and procurement teams with scheduling inputs for material delivery and resource allocation.

  • Ensure project planning documents are maintained and updated throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.

  • Minimum 5–8 years of experience in planning and scheduling of civil/building construction projects.

  • Strong command of Primavera P6 and MS Project software.

  • Solid understanding of construction methodologies, drawings, and technical specifications.

  • Familiarity with earned value management (EVM), critical path method (CPM), and delay analysis techniques.

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

Preferred:

  • Certification in Project Management (e.g., PMP) is a plus.

  • Experience in high-rise buildings, commercial complexes, or infrastructure projects.

  • GCC experience preferred (if hiring in the Gulf region).
