Description:

The Quality Controller – Automobile Service ensures that all vehicles serviced or repaired in the workshop meet company quality standards and safety regulations. Acting as a link between the workshop controller and the service team, the role involves verifying repair accuracy, conducting random quality checks, and ensuring optimal efficiency and productivity in the service operations. The Quality Controller is also responsible for ensuring compliance with ISO 9002 and HSE standards, enhancing customer satisfaction, and contributing to continuous improvement within the department.

Job Responsibilities:

Efficiency and Productivity

  • Monitor and maintain individual efficiency and productivity targets.

  • Ensure optimal utilization of time and resources for all service jobs.

Operations & HSE

  • Ensure all customer-requested repairs listed on job cards are completed accurately and efficiently.

  • Check that service books are properly stamped and job cards are correctly filled out.

  • Conduct random daily quality inspections of repaired vehicles, checking key items like fluid/oil levels, torque specs, tire pressure, lights, and spare wheels.

  • Report any deviation from standard practices and escalate issues to management.

  • Confirm and verify repair instructions on job cards, complete repair reports, and conduct test drives where needed.

  • Ensure all operations comply with ISO 9002 and company HSE standards.

Reports and Updates

  • Update workshop systems and report discrepancies in software or system usage.

  • Generate weekly and monthly performance and quality reports for management and internal communication.

Customer Focus

  • Manage service and maintenance schedules effectively.

  • Ensure high standards of work quality through audits, CSI analysis, and other quality control tools (e.g., Fix it Right First Time, No Rework).

  • Collaborate closely with technicians to maintain service excellence.

Teamwork / Employee Morale

  • Foster positive working relationships across departments, offering support and guidance to colleagues as required.

Innovation and Value Addition

  • Contribute to continuous improvement efforts by identifying and suggesting opportunities to enhance departmental performance and customer service delivery.

Job Context:

  • The role functions as a quality gatekeeper between workshop operations and management, ensuring all service work meets established standards before vehicle delivery.

  • Maintains operational integrity in line with MOA regulations and departmental SOPs.

Communication and Working Relationships:

Internal:

  • Workshop Foreman, Technicians, Service Advisors, Parts Department, Technical Learners

External:

  • Customers

  • Suppliers (as required)

Frameworks, Boundaries & Decision-Making Authority:

  • Operates within departmental guidelines, company policies, and Ministry of Labour standards.

  • Has the authority to escalate quality issues and recommend corrective actions.

Qualifications, Experience & Skills:

  • Diploma in Automobile Engineering or Equivalent

  • Automotive Technician Diploma or equivalent from a recognized institution

  • 5+ years in an automotive service department in a similar role

  • Strong understanding of automotive service industry and workshop operations

  • Attention to detail and strong observational skills

  • Written and spoken English mandatory; Arabic desirable

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Dealer Management Systems (DMS)

  • Knowledge of ISO 9002 and Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) standards
